On November 30, 2021, the Russian Center in Bratislava took part in the International online conference on the theme: "The life and exploits of Alexander Nevsky", dedicated to the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the birth of the great statesman and military leader Prince Alexander Nevsky.
The event was organized by the Russian House in Bratislava.
Scientists, representatives of the Russian Union of Veterans, members of the Council of the World Russian People's Council, representatives of a number of educational institutions in Russia and Slovakia, representatives of public organizations took part in the conference.
The focus was on the image of Prince Alexander Nevsky, his feats of arms and political activity.
Within the framework of the conference, reports were presented characterizing the personality of Alexander Nevsky as an outstanding statesman, politician, peacemaker, defender of the Christian values of Russia and its integrity, his activities were considered in historical and spiritual contexts.
The participants of the event learned about the history of the creation of the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the only award that existed (with certain changes) in the award systems of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, about museum exhibitions dedicated to the hero, his deeds and legacy.
The participants' interest was aroused by the online student project "Heritage: Alexander Nevsky" of the Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University.
After the reports, a discussion took place, where Natalia Chumak, a methodologist, spoke on behalf of the Russian Center in Bratislava. She noted that the use of the potential of the image of Alexander Nevsky in the educational environment is great and has not yet been fully used.
2021 is declared the year of Alexander Nevsky in Russia. An assessment of the historical role of A. Nevsky was given by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin: "... He took upon himself a heavy responsibility, showed a unique foresight and will, doing everything to make Russia stronger, was able to preserve the tradition of ancient Russian statehood ..."
