For the past three weeks, with the support of teachers from the Ukrainian Foundation of Literature and Culture, the children of refugees and displaced people from Ukraine have been learning the Slovak language. Classes are conducted by a teacher who was educated at two leading universities in Ukraine, one of them is the National Pedagogical University. M.P. Dragomanova (Kyiv). For classes, a special accelerated course is used, recommended by the departments of the Slovak language of the leading universities in Slovakia. The course includes topics on acquaintance, family, home, shopping in the store, communication with other people.

“It is very important that children arriving from Ukraine are provided with a safe and friendly environment, so that they feel welcome and accepted. Our training is aimed at ensuring that children can name themselves, navigate in an unfamiliar place, and communicate with other people. Our goal is to create a comfortable environment for the successful integration of children into Slovak society,” the teacher explained.
