On April 12, 2022, the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture hosted a thematic event “Through the Pages of the Past… Cosmonautics Day”, dedicated to the first manned flight into space.
On April 12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin was the first in the world to conquer outer space on the Vostok-1 spacecraft. Cosmonautics Day is celebrated in many parts of the world. In many countries, this holiday is called International Day of Human Space Flight, International Day of Human Space Flight and World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day.
The meeting was attended by teachers and students of the Russian language courses of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture, the Foundation of Ukrainian Literature and Culture, representatives of the leading higher educational institutions of Bratislava, citizens of Slovakia who are interested in the history of space exploration.
Using unique library and archival materials, EFSPaK teachers introduced the audience to the history of space exploration. The participants were presented with audio recordings of space events - the news about the first manned flight into space, voiced by Yuri Levitan, "Tales about Gagarin" by Yuri Nagibin, as well as copies of posters and newspapers of that time that carry the spirit of that heroic era.
Throughout the event, a cozy and warm atmosphere reigned.
