On July 5, Slovakia celebrates a public holiday - the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius. One of the important pages in the history of Slovakia is connected with the names of these saints and their great mission to Great Moravia (part of Great Moravia was also located on the territory of present-day Slovakia). The great mission contributed to the strengthening of the Christian faith among the Slavic peoples, made an invaluable contribution to the development of their culture. The names of Cyril and Methodius are associated with the invention of one of the first Slavic alphabets, with the help of which Slavic translations of liturgical books were recorded.
On June 24, 2022, teachers from the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture and from the Foundation of Ukrainian Literature and Culture held a thematic lesson on the topic “The Legacy of Cyril and Methodius”. The lesson was held in a playful way with the help of an educational game-quest with the same name.
Traveling through the stations "Ancient", "Writing of the ancient Slavs", "Go through the labyrinth", "Zagadkino", "Syllabic", "Logical", the guys got acquainted with the life of the ancient Slavs, studied their writing, tested themselves as translators from Old Slavonic into the modern language, guessed riddles, quizzes, made up words from letters and anagrams. Absolute delight was caused by the writing of the Old Slavonic alphabet with pen and ink. It was interesting to plunge into the times of grandmothers and great-grandmothers, write in ink and try not to put a blot.
Completing the tasks, the children earned points, according to which the winning teams were singled out.
All participants of the quest game were marked with gratitude and sweet gifts.
