5th international conference «Russia and Europe: current problems of current international journalism»

29.09.2016 in Bratislava was held 5th international conference «Russia and Europe: current problems of current international journalism».

The aim of the conference was to discuss such topical issues as the validity of the information and criteria for responsible media.

The main organizer of the event was a Russian magazine «international life». He opened the meeting and greeted those present, A. L. Fedotov, Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Slovakia. Conference presenters were chief editor of «international life» A.G. Ogannesyan and President of the Political Academy Austrian People's Party, President of the Austrian Institute for European policy and security, the president of the Austrian-Slovak company F. Werner. Forum greeting sent Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.

The conference was attended by over 100 people, scientists and journalists, public and political figures, leading press and business representatives from ten European countries - Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Russia. The staff of the European Fund of Slavic literacy and culture attended the conference and discussed.

 

Discussion was professional and live. Most of the speakers focus the attention on Russophobia tendencies in the Western press and demonizing leadership of the country, the elements of secrecy achievements of Russia and the facts or information, financial dependence of media.

Many speakers noted a big role of journalism in the development of civil society and the activities of the European media for creating an objective picture of Russia.

Forum participants have noted the growing importance of social networks, which for a large number of citizens have become the main supplier was correct. They recorded also expanding trend among Europeans distrust of traditional media.

Chairman, Slovak-Russian friendship, former Prime Minister of Slovakia Jan Čarnogurský is a lack of positive political messages about Russia in the Slovak media. «Previously, there was never a problem of Russian propaganda. Currently, this problem arises, and we know why ... However, the attitude of the Slovaks to Russia is improving. According to surveys, the public Slovak citizens trust Russia more than the United States. »

The conference was widely publicized in the Russian and Slovak media.
