On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, the church honors the memory of the Great Martyr Panteleimon.During his lifetime, Panteleimon was a doctor, for which he received the nickname "Healer". They pray to him to be healed of mental and physical wounds. Lived in Nicodemia in the 2nd and 3rd centuries. He treated his patients for free, so other doctors lost their income and reported to Emperor Maximian on Panteleimon, saying that he heals imprisoned Christians with prayer.
The emperor became very angry and ordered the doctor to be subjected to all kinds of torture. However, they did no harm to Panteleimon. Then he was sentenced to death and sat down on his head. According to legend, milk flowed from his wounds, and the olive tree to which the healer was tied immediately became covered with fruits.
After death, the body of Panteleimon was thrown into the fire, but it remained intact. Then the Christians buried him. At present, the head of the great martyr is kept in a monastery on Mount Athos.
