On February 21, 2023, on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Slovak Republic, the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture hosted the grand opening of an exhibition of books by Belarusian writers entitled “Greetings, Belarusian book!”.
The exhibition was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Slovak Republic together with the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture.
Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Belarus in the Slovak Republic Igor Nikolayevich Letun, President of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture, Professor Igor Ivanovich Bondarenko took part in the opening ceremony. They greeted the guests and expressed confidence that such events contribute to the strengthening of good relations between peoples.
Among the invitees were representatives of diplomatic missions, heads and representatives of cultural institutions, mass media, education, public organizations and other interested persons.
During the event, the guests heard poems and songs in Belarusian. Then they got acquainted with the fiction and documentary literature of classical and modern authors, who in their works reflected the geography of the country and the history of the Belarusian people, their glorious deeds. Of particular interest to those present were the books of the philosopher and educator of the Belarusian people - Francysk Skaryna, a fresco depicting which adorns the wall of the University of Padua (Padua, Italy) next to portraits of other thinkers of the Renaissance.
The European Foundation for Slavic Literature and Culture expresses its sincere gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Slovak Republic for fruitful cooperation and wishes further professional success.
The exhibition is open to the public until March 31, 2023
