On March 10, 2023, the Aircraft Gallery of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture opened its doors to fans of classical and modern literature.
The Open Doors Day became a logical continuation of the events on Russian and Belarusian culture previously prepared by the Foundation. These events received a great response from teachers, students and students of educational institutions from different cities of Slovakia. Recall that these events were associated with the exhibition of books in the Belarusian language "Greetings, Belarusian book!" and an exposition about the work of F.M. Dostoevsky “Dostoevsky. Episodes.
A rich program awaited the guests throughout the day. The first visitors were students of the Department of Slavic Languages of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University. Matej Bela (Banska Bystrica) under the guidance of Dr. Igor Tsintula. Over a cup of tea in a friendly atmosphere, the children were provided with information about the activities and opportunities of the Foundation. Then it was interesting for future teachers and translators not only to look at books in the Belarusian language, but also to listen to information about the origins of East Slavic book printing. Then the group got acquainted with the exposition “Dostoevsky. Episodes”, where an interesting discussion unfolded about the creative heritage of the great writer, about the phenomenon of his genius.
Students brilliantly answered the most difficult questions on the topic of the lecture, demonstrating excellent knowledge. At the end of the event, the guests thanked the Foundation for the opportunity to see impressive exhibitions, for the warm welcome and expressed their hope for further cooperation.
Among the visitors that day were representatives of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University. Konstantin the Philosopher from Nitra, students of language courses, residents and guests of Bratislava.
Currently, the AIRCRAFT gallery exhibits three exhibitions:
- an exhibition of books by Belarusian writers "Greetings, Belarusian book", provided by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Slovak Republic;
- banner exhibition “Dostoevsky. Episodes”, timed to coincide with the birthday of Fyodor Dostoevsky and provided by the Literary and Memorial Museum. F. M. Dostoevsky (St. Petersburg);
- the exhibition "Art at war, war in art", which presents 97 graphic and pictorial works of fine arts, drawings of Japanese and German prisoners of war from the stock collection of the Yelabuga State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve (Russia, Republic of Tatarstan, . Yelabuga).
Exhibitions are open to visitors: Monday-Thursday from 10:00 to 15:00
