"Art in War, War in Art"

Dear friends!

In Bratislava, at the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture, the exhibition devoted to the Second World War "Art in War, War in Art" continues its work.

The exposition of the exhibition presents 97 graphic and pictorial works of fine arts, drawings of Japanese and German prisoners of war from the fund collection of the Yelabuga State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve (Russia, Republic of Tatarstan, Yelabuga).

Artists Alexei Glandin, Yuri Neprintsev and Viktor Slyshchenko, whose works you can see, are eyewitnesses and participants in the events of World War II. The works of the captured German doctor Kurt Reuber, who survived the Stalingrad cauldron and fell into Soviet captivity, reflect a view of the war from the other side. The history of writing his famous "Stalingrad Madonna" is amazing and touching: until 1942, he made more than 150 drawings. In 1942 he ended up in the Stalingrad hell. On the last day of the Battle of Stalingrad, he paints the Stalingrad Madonna. This is a pencil drawing on the back of a school map showing the Madonna with the Child in her arms.

The original drawing is now in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin.

The works presented at the exhibition, no doubt, will satisfy the most demanding requests of fans of graphic art; those who are seriously interested in history.

We invite to cooperation educational and educational organizations of Slovakia.
