On May 8, 2023, in the capital of Slovakia, more than 200 people took part in an event dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
On this day, wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument to the Soviet liberator soldier at the Slavin memorial complex in the center of Bratislava.
Memorial complex Slavin - the resting place of about seven thousand Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of Slovakia in 1945.
Ceremonies of honoring the memory of the fallen were also held in other large cities of the republic. They were attended by the President of Slovakia Zuzana Chaputova, members of the Cabinet of Ministers and members of the Parliament of Slovakia, representatives of diplomatic missions, public organizations, and the local population. The President of the country, speaking at one of them, noted the role of the Red Army in the liberation of Eastern Europe: "Our territory and the territory of Eastern Europe were liberated mainly by the Soviet Red Army with the help of local fighters of the anti-Hitler Resistance, the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps and the Romanian Army."
Representatives of the European Foundation for Slavic Literature and Culture also paid tribute to the soldiers who died during the fighting on the territory of Slovakia during the Second World War.
On the eve of the Victory Day, the Slovak community of bikers "Brother for Brother" made a rally through the settlements of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where large monuments to the victims and heroes of World War II are located.
The caring attitude of the Slovaks to the feat of the soldiers who brought freedom to the Slovak land inspires respect.
