These days, more gatherings of Russian literature enthusiasts were organized by the European Slavic Literature and Culture Foundation within the Golden Age of Russian Culture project. This season has started out with the event called “A. N. Ostrovsky. Profitable place”, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of this great dramaturg´s birth.
The event was organized by the Slovak citizens association Ruslana and the European Slavic Literature and Culture Foundation. The goal was to promote the heritage of Russian literature Golden age authors. This poetic name is connected to the first third of the 19th century, when the culture was enriched by many outstanding authors of literature, music and art. Their heritage has become a part of the international culture. In literature it was Alexander Ostrovsky, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Ivan Turgenev, Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov, and others.
This unique event was visited by approximately 300 people, among them teachers of Russian language and literature, students of Slovak grammar schools, journalists, students of language courses, representatives of the Slovak public, and compatriots.
The organizers prepared an exhibition of classic 19th century Russian literature and multimedia presentation that carried visitors to an Alexander Ostrovsky house-museum called Shchelykovo, located in Kostroma Oblast region in Russia. This was the place where Ostrovsky lived, wrote plays, and also died here in his office. This educating and interesting presentation was prepared and presented by Nina Semenovna Tugarina – scientific secretary of Shchelykovo house-museum, and Lubov Alexandrovna Chernova – head of the A. N. Ostrovsky House.
The main attraction was the play “Profitable place” by A. N. Ostrovsky. The amazing performance by actors of the 
student theatre BREAK and unique adaptation by the director Michal Tomasy created unforgettable atmosphere in the audience. The play induced many emotions and challenged the audience to think about what is more important: to live honestly or live “like the rest”. We have chosen the path towards love.
Everyone had a chance to take part at the event, whether in person or remotely.
