On 19-20 of October 2016, in the Slovakian city Ruzomberok, in the classroom of Pedagogical Faculty of the Catholic University was held a " Ruzomberoks Russists Forum: projects and reforms."
The forum was organized by the Association of Russists in Slovakia (ARS) with the support of the Russian Embassy in the Slovak Republic, the Russian Fund of Culture and representation of Rossotrudnychestvo in Slovakia.
At the forum were invited teachers of Slovak schools and high schools, methodologists and teachers of the Russian language from Slovakia, Russia and other European countries. The main theme of the forum was to find effective solutions to the problems of teaching Russian language as a foreign language at the present stage. During the round-tables of the forum were discussed: the content of foreign language education, new technologies and forms of teaching the Russian language in schools and universities. There also was presented a new European project of distance learning - «Russian-online».
Forum participants were welcomed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Slovak Republic – A.L. Fedotov. In his speech, he spoke about the role of the Russian language, he emphasized the importance of study of Russian Language and noted the significant event of the year - the opening of the Russian Centre in Bratislava and expressed the hope for mutual cooperation with the specialists in Russian philology of Central and Eastern Europe countries.
Interesting reports were made by the president of the Association of Russists in Slovakia - E. Kollarova, professor of St. Petersburg University - J.E. Prokhorov, professor of the Catholic University - E. Petlak and others. The famous cultural scientist, the president of the Association "Lermontov Heritage" and the director of the National Lermontov Center in Serednikovo – M.J. Lermontov spoke about the role of the heritage of his famous ancestor, the famous Russian poet.
Russian center of the "Russian world" Fund has taken part in the preparation of this event. To the best Slovak teachers and Russists have been proposed as the gifts books in Russian Language "Great Patriotic War". The forum was attended by the President of the European Fund of Slavic Literature and Culture - Professor I.I. Bondarenko, who is one of the authors of donated books.
Russian Cultural Fund presented a unique exhibition "Matryoshka-image”, which includes more than fifty dolls in national costumes, created by pupils of institutions for orphans and children left without parental care from Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Armenia. Russian Cultural Fund donated about 200 new books to the university library, including popular children's and educational literature.
