Methodological Day at the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture
On January 28, 2025, the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture (Slavfond) launched a series of meetings under the title "Methodological Day." This event marked a new stage in the foundation’s educational and cultural activities. As part of the meeting, the foundation welcomed students from the Faculty of Philosophy at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, specializing in "Russian language and culture," who arrived for their translation internship.
The students familiarized themselves with Slavfond's activities and learned about its key initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting the Russian language, Russian literature, and folklore. The visit included a tour of the foundation's library, which serves as a vital resource for studying Slavic languages. The collection features publications in Russian, Slovak, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and other Slavic languages.
A particularly impressive part of the visit was a tour of the "AIRCRAFT" art gallery, where students viewed the "My Beloved Province" exhibition, featuring paintings from the collection of the Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve. This exhibition allowed students to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Russian countryside and see it through the lens of artistic perception.
The program of the Methodological Day also included a teleconference, which played a crucial role in strengthening international cooperation. The event connected students, educators, and representatives of the foundation from Slovakia with professors from Russia and Austria who actively participate in the foundation’s initiatives.
Associate Professor E.I. Breusova, Head of the Department of Russian Language and Journalism at Surgut State Pedagogical University, shared the institution’s plans for 2025 and spoke about international events aimed at supporting the Russian language and culture. An engaging presentation was also given by T. Stadler, a professor at Vienna University of Economics and Business, who shared her experience working with Slovak schoolchildren in 2024.
Interning students at Slavfond will also take an active role in the upcoming "Russian Language Days," organized by the "Ruslana" public association in collaboration with Slavfond. This event will provide students with a unique opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge in practice.
We hope that Slavfond’s Methodological Days will serve as a successful model for integrating educational and cultural programs.
