On February 21, the presentation of "Book of Memory. Slovakia," from the International humanitarian project series "Book of Memory. Europe," took place at the office of RKB-MAKB. The event was held in the days marking the 80th anniversary of the joining of the 2nd Independent Czechoslovak Airborne Brigade with the advancing Soviet Red Army units in Slovakia. The presentation generated great interest and was insightful, educational, and engaging.
The event was attended by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Slovakia in Moscow, as well as notable and respected individuals such as:
• Colonel General Valeriy Andreevich Baranov, Vice President of the Academy of Military Sciences,
• Colonel Yevgeny Alekseyevich Lozovik, former Military Attaché at the Russian Embassy in the USA, historian, graduate of the Minsk Suvorov Military School (1975), and author of the "Cadet Heritage" project,
• Alexander Alexandrovich Stepanov, Chairman of the Board of the International Organization "Brotherhood of Belarusians and Russians,"
• Vasily Yuryevich Shimko, Honorary Consul of Slovakia in Uzbekistan,
• Patrick Rexa, Secretary at the Embassy of Slovakia in the Russian Federation,
• Vladimir Viktorovich Chkhikvadze, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, author of the "Book of Memory. Europe" project, and other officials.
During the discussion of the book, issues of international cooperation in the field of preserving historical memory, passing this memory on to future generations, and the necessity of popularizing the "Book of Memory. Europe" project among cadet military school students were raised.
The European Foundation for Slavic Written Language and Culture expresses its gratitude to Yurius Trakšialis, as well as all Slovak colleagues, representatives of public organizations, and historical clubs for their work on the book. We also invite you to the presentation of the "Book of Memory. Slovakia," which will take place at our foundation in early April and will be dedicated to the Day of the Liberation of Bratislava from the Nazi-fascist invaders.
