On the 3d of February 2016, in Bratislava, in AIRCRAFT Business Center was hosted a roundtable discussion on the highly topical theme «The fight against terrorism, geopolitical challenges in Europe, Europe and Russia».
The initiators of the round table were well-known in Slovakia writer and journalist, member of the Slovak Parliament, member of the PACE Sergey Helemendik and The President of the European Academy of Security and Conflictology, the President of the European Foundation for Slavic Literature and Culture, member of Council of Europe, Professor Igor Bondarenko.
The topic of the round table was not chosen by chance. On Slovak television in various institutions and on the streets sounds the theme of terrorism, Europe's future and relations with Russia.
As keynote speaker was invited a famous Russian writer, a political scientist and publicist Nikolai Starikov. He spoke about his vision of the political situation in the world, the causes of migration flows in Europe, the origins of terrorism, relations between Slovakia and Russia.
With a great interest was perceived the statement that was made by ProfessorIgor Bondarenko, who had participated in the PACE session. On that session four global challenges were identified: the threat of terrorism, migration crisis, the rise of populism and open conflicts in Europe. The Council of Europe proposes to use the complex ways out, namely, political, economic and legal. Particular attention was paid to the issue of the financing of terrorism. He presented to the audience the books that have been published in recent years on these topics, including authorial books.
As the organizers of the event were the European Academy of Security and Conflictology (Európska Akadémia prebezpečnosť a konflikty), the European Slavic Literature and Culture Foundation (Európsky fond slovanskej písomnosti a kultúry), Aircraft Company Diagnosis (Aircraft Diagnostic Company). In Bratislava, the meeting was expected by Slovaks who wanted to hear the real assessment of the events. The meeting brought together more than 100 people, the audience could not accommodate everyone. There were questions on a wide range of contemporary events: the threat of terrorism, the development of the conflict in Syria, about Ukraine, the US, Germany and Turkey role, the impact of gas supplies to Russia and European relations, the role of the Slovak Republic, and others.
After the meeting, the round table participants were surrounded by the audience, the questions did not end there. Some students came with books purchased before and lined up for autographs. Slovaks thanked to the organizers for the opportunity to hear the truth, they also spoke about the friendship between the Slavic peoples and our countries. The meeting was held in amazing atmosphere of unity of people of different ages and nationalities. Many participants hurried to take pictures for memory.
At the end of the roundtable, participants went to the center of Russian Fund «Russian World» and continued the discussion. Numerous media representatives and journalists took the opportunity to interview participants.
Undoubtedly, a round table that was held in a spirit of mutual respect for the historical and cultural heritage of our countries has further strengthened the cultural ties and developing dialogue between cultures, principles of tolerance and mutual understanding between the peoples of our countries.
