Excursion to the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising

The European Foundation of Slavic Literacy and Culture (EFSLAC) is expanding its collaboration with Slovak philosophers, historians, and researchers. One of them is Marek Schön, a young historian specializing in the study of the Slovak National Uprising (SNU).

Currently, he is preparing an exhibition for our foundation, dedicated to the heroism of Slovak partisans during World War II. Marek Schön organizes exhibitions and delivers lectures in various cities across Slovakia. For instance, on March 13, he arranged a historical excursion in Banská Bystrica for high school students from the Secondary Church School in Partizánske.

The students visited the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising, where they participated in an interactive lecture in an open-air storage area. They had the opportunity to test their knowledge of SNU history and interact with artifacts from the World War II era.

The multimedia exhibition "SNU – 1944", featuring authentic documents, photographs, and a reconstructed bunker, allowed them to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of that time. A short documentary brought to life the story of Vladimír Strmeň, the oldest living partisan.

Additionally, Marek Schön led a tour of the Museum of Military Equipment. In the village of Kľak, he shared with the students the tragic history of the burned-down village and prepared an informational bulletin for them.
