REGULATIONS
on organizing the photography contest “My Slovakia”
1. General Provisions
1.1. These regulations define the objectives, rules, and organization of the photography contest “My Slovakia.”
1.2. The contest aims to promote the natural, historical, and cultural heritage of Slovakia, as well as to strengthen cultural ties between Slovakia and Russia.
1.3. The organizer of the contest is the European Foundation for Slavic Literacy and Culture.
1.4. Entries can be submitted until June 30, 2025.
2. Contest Theme and Topics
Contest Theme: My Slovakia
Main thematic areas:
Nature of Slovakia
People of Slovakia
Architecture (traditional and modern)
History and cultural heritage
Cultural and historical connections between Slovakia and Russia
3. Contest Participants
The contest is open to:
Professional photographers
Amateurs (including students and beginner photographers)
4. Conditions for Participation
4.1. Each participant may submit 1 to 5 photographs in digital format.
4.2. The photographs must correspond to the contest theme and be original works. Images highlighting the uniqueness of Slovak regions, traditional costumes, customs, and Slovak nature and historical landmarks are especially welcome.
4.3. Image format – JPEG or PNG. Minimum resolution – 1500 dpi.
A cover letter must include: the title of the work, the author’s full name, and (for students) the city, school, and grade.
4.4. Each photograph must be accompanied by:
Title of the photograph
Place and year of creation
Short description (up to 300 characters)
Participant category (professional / amateur)

5. Evaluation of Entries
Photos will be evaluated by a professional jury, including photographers and representatives of the European Foundation for Slavic Literacy and Culture.
Evaluation criteria:
Relevance to the theme and subject
Artistic expression and composition
Originality of concept
Technical quality
Cultural and historical significance of the subject
Reflection of Slovak–Russian connections (if applicable in the photo)
6. Awards and Recognition
6.1. Winners in the "Professional" and "Amateur" categories will receive diplomas and commemorative prizes.
6.2. Special nominations:
Best Portrait
Best Landscape
Architectural Heritage
Timeless Connection: Slovakia and Russia
Audience Choice Award
6.3. The best entries will be showcased at a final exhibition and published in an online catalog.
7. Copyright
7.1. Copyright remains with the participant.
7.2. The organizers reserve the right to use the submitted photographs for non-commercial purposes, including exhibitions, catalogs, social media, and promotional materials, with proper attribution to the author.
8. Final Provisions
8.1. Participation in the contest implies acceptance of these regulations.
8.2. The organizers reserve the right to change the contest dates and rules, with prior notice to the participants.
