On the 25th of May 2017, in the Russian Center of the European Fund of Slavic Literature and Culture in Bratislava was hosted a seminar on Russian language and culture on the theme "Slavic enlighteners Cyril and Methodius." The seminar was held as a part of the celebration of the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture, which is celebrated annually in Russia and in other Slavic countries, and is dedicated to the memory of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Brothers Methodius and Cyril.
In Slovakia there is a special attitude to these saints, because it was from the Slovak city of Nitra in the 9th century from where they began their enlightenment mission and the distribution of the alphabet among the Slavic peoples.
The presentation was prepared by an intern from Italy Leticia Gazzola. She told about the history of the creation of the alphabet, about the difficulties in its distribution, about the contribution of each brother to this mission, about the history of the Slavic state of Great Moravia.
The participants of the seminar were well acquainted with the topic of the seminar; each of them supplemented the presentation with interesting facts from the life and work of the Slavic enlighteners. And, nevertheless, they listened with interest and asked questions. The discussion in Russian broadened the vocabulary and lexis of participants. The presentation was accompanied by photos and video images on the screen.
