On the 6th of June 2017, in the Russian Center of the European Found of Slavic Literature and Culture in Bratislava was hosted the Russian Language Day, which is annually celebrated in Slovakia on the birthday of the great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin.
On this day, students of Russian language courses heard the story of the Russian language as the one of the richest and most beautiful languages in the modern world. According to different sources, from 250 to 500 million people on the planet speak Russian language. It is widely used outside of Russia. It is one of the official languages of the UN and UNESCO and its importance in global cooperation is increasing every year.
The audience was told about the life and work of A.S. Pushkin, his contribution to the development of language and culture, poetry and prose works.
A selection of books by the poet from the library fund of the Russian Center was presented. Then the chapters from the famous work in versees "Eugeniy Onegin" were read.
