28.04.2016 In Bratislava at conference hall of the hotel Holiday Inn, was held an international educational-practical conference on "The Geopolitics of Russia." The organizers of the event were the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Slovak Republic and a branch of the Institute of International and Public Relations (IMOS Prague).
The conference was attended by experts from Russia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic representing the State Institute of International Relations in Moscow, Russian Institute of Strategic Studies, Higher School of Economics, IMOS (Prague), Institute for Global Studies Comenius University (Prague) university of Economics (Prague), Institute of History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, university of Economics (Bratislava), Matej Bel university (Banska Bystrica).
The conference was opened by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Slovakia A. L. Fedotov, who welcomed the performers, emphasized the seriousness of contacts between scientists, political scientists and experts, their dialogue on important topics such as geopolitics, as well as the need to approach the true reality in its publicity. Rector of the Institute of International and Public Relations in Prague Václav Soukup also stressed the importance of these debates and wished the conference success.
Among the speakers participating in the conference included famous scientists: Professors Oskar Krejci and Francis Škvrnda of Bratislava, Professor Igor Kosír from Banska Bystrica, Professor Svetozar Krno from Nitra, professors Yevgeny Kozokin, Maxim Braterska and Grigoij Tischenko from Moscow, Vladimir Prorok and Pavel gavlas of Prague. In their speeches, scientists have devoted a whole range of topical issues. Virtually all highlighted the growing role of Russia in the global world, noted the need for change in the political structure of the monopolar world to multi-polarity, highlighted the need for solutions to the Syrian and migration issues non-standard methods, and also talked about the US role in the struggle for world leadership.
Known political scientist, writer and public figure Nikolai Starikov, in addition to his speech, also introduced his book "Geopolitics. How it is done. "Slovak scientist Oskar Krejci also presented his book" The Geopolitics of the Central European space. "
Talk about the role of Russia in the world, perspectives of development of relations with the European Union, the debate on a range of foreign policy and other economic difficulties, many questions and spoke left no one indifferent. Breaks through dialogue and debate did not stop, conducted exchange of views and contacts, plans emerged to organize joint actions.
In the final speeches sounded a positive evaluation of the conference, its seriousness in understanding the ongoing events in the world and overcome their mythologization.
Russian Centre and the European Fund of Slavic literacy and culture are actively involved in the preparation of the conference and to disseminate information about it. The conference was also attended by university students.
The results suggest the conference issue also to the participants. At the conference were present Slovak journalist agency TASR and others SITA, publishing companies, journalists, photojournalists and television editors.
