On the 9th of May 2018 in Bratislava a lot of solemn events, dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the victory over fascism in The World War II, were held.
Traditionally, the Day of Victory was celebrated at the Slavin memorial complex, where flowers and wreaths were laid to the monument of the Soviet soldier-liberator. The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Government of the Slovak Republic Peter Pelegrini, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation A.L. Fedotov, ambassadors and delegations of many countries, members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Slovakia, deputies of the parliament, heads of regions of the Republic, representatives of the Slovak public and our compatriots.
Several thousand people gathered on the square in front of the memorial complex. The weather was fine, everyone was in high spirits. Compatriots formed a separate column. Many of them brought portraits of their fathers and grandfathers, who have participated in the war. The descendants of war participants from Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries passed in a single column. There were many children and young people. In the hands of compatriots were copies of the Banner of Victory.
The delegation of the employees of the Russian Center and the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture took part in all the ceremonial events and also layed flowers to the Slavin memorial.
