From 9th to 14th of September 2019, the VIII International Student Festival “Friends, our union is wonderful!” was held in Bulgaria at the "Balkanika-Rositsa" international sports center, located on the Black Sea near the resort town of Kiten.
The festival "Friends, our union is wonderful!" traditionally unites Slavic students studying Russian. This year, the geography of the festival has expanded significantly - students from Turkey, Tunisia, Colombia and Japan joined the European teams. Students from 25 countries came to the festival to get to know each other, learn more about Russia, tell in Russian about the culture of their countries. European countries are represented at the festival by teams from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Estonia and other countries.
This year, two teams represented Slovakia at the festival. For the fourth year in a row, the Russian center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture has been forming a national team from various universities in Slovakia. The first team was formed of students from Bratislava, Zilina, Banska Bystrica, Presov and Trencin. The second team was presented by Presov University.
Our team was well prepared and all its performances were accompanied by participants and guests of the festival shouting “Bravo!” A uniform with the symbols of Slovakia, Slovak national costumes and simply beautiful smiling faces of Slovak students clearly represented the culture of their country.
At the closing ceremony, the final works of the workshops, in which students were engaged were presented: the theater workshop, the studio "Making a Movie", the literary and poetic studio, the workshops of the young journalists and television reporters, connoisseurs of the Russian language, experts in geography and history of Russia, studio of Russian romance, song writing and dance. A special seminar was organized for the leaders of student teams on the latest methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language.
Slovak students participated in master classes of Russian romance and dance. At the final concert, they performed the popular Russian song “Near the Black Sea” and the Slovak folk dance, which met with loud applause from the audience.
The warm, friendly atmosphere of the festival, new impressions and acquaintances, communication in Russian made strong friendly relations between participants of the festival. Parting, they said: “See you next year at the festival!”
