25th May 2016 in Vienna at palace Kaiserhaus was held under the auspices of the Russian Embassy in Austria International Conference on "Relations with Russia Austria. Past - present - future ", dedicated to the development of Russian-Austrian relations.
Organizers of the event were Founndation "Russkiy Mir", Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Vienna, Austria Company-Russian friendship with the support of the Russian society of friendship with Austria.
The conference program was designed to sum up many years of positive experience of bilateral contacts and explore ways to improve relations between the countries - members of the EU with Russia in a difficult geopolitical situation. Character and theme speeches covered a wide range of relations: a historical overview of Russian-Austrian relations in 1991, bilateral relations, economic cooperation of Austria and Russia, cooperation in the cultural sphere, the Austro-Russian bilateral relations and multilaterally with regard to European integration in Austria. Deep and sincere performances were also held in plenary sessions and in sections.
Not one of the topics of the conference performers let cool. Performers in their speeches the participants talked about the timeliness of disassembling topics and a special interest in strengthening and developing bilateral relations. Many pointed out the relations between the two countries as a demonstration. One of the objectives of the extension of the Russian-Austrian economic and economic cooperation is necessary to diversify the Russian export to Austria, which focuses mostly on energy. Austrian conference participants expressed the need for the fastest possible lifting of sanctions against Russia. Russian participants of the conference pointed out that the neutral status of Austria, the election of a new president with Russian roots Alexandra Van der Bella, and also the incoming Austrian presidency of the OSCE in 2017 will contribute to the relaxation of international tension.
At the final meeting were summarized the results of the conference, also expressed the unanimous opinion of the participants about the importance of expansion of friendly Austrian-Russian relations in future. Cooperation between these two countries contributes to prosperity and stability in Europe.
The conference was attended by representatives of civil society organizations from Austria, Slovakia and Russia, the director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Vienna, directors of Russian centres in Bratislava and Salzburg, representatives of the Fund "Russkiy Mir", the president of the European Fund of Slavic literacy and culture, representatives of chambers of commerce, academic workers and political scientists, economists and historians, as well as compatriots.
