Nowadays, in the context of quarantine and in connection with the spread of Coronavirus, online education comes to the fore. The Russian center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture in Bratislava transferred students of Russian language courses to a distance learning form. Teachers took part in several workshops to improve their skills.
On March 20, 2020, a webinar on the topic "Distance learning: publishing house recommendations." was held. It was organized by the Russian publishing house "Zlatoust" (St. Petersburg). The publishing house is the undisputed leader in the development of new educational materials on Russian as a foreign language (RAF).
The teachers got acquainted with the recommendations on the organization of distance learning, the requirements for technology and equipment, the use of RAF textbooks in online format.
On March 25, 2020, a webinar organized by the Russian Center of Pisa State University (Italy) took place. The topic of the webinar was “Methodological aspects of teaching Russian language online”. The webinar was hosted by Yulia Amlinskaya, head of the foreign language schools “Language Life” and “Russificate”.
The webinar was attended by teachers of Russian centers of the Russian World Foundation from two dozen European countries. They exchanged experiences, shared their impressions about how distance learning is organized at universities, what programs and tools are better to use, how to motivate their listeners and students. The webinar was practical and extremely useful.
Also, teachers of the Russian Center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture in Bratislava took part in other training events. Applied master classes were held on “Zoom for educational purposes”, organized by the Learnteachweb Interactive Center, webinars of the Moscow State University’s Russian Language Learning Center on the topics “Games in RCT Lessons” and “Methods of Interpreting Literary Text in Teaching RAFs” and others served as a good way to improve your skills.
