Dear colleagues,
I welcome the creation of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture in Slovakia with the participation of Slovak and Russian partners.
The Declaration published in 1953 by UNESCO emphasized the important role of mutual understanding among peoples and dialogue between cultures. Sustainable peace and common prosperity are impossible without the intellectual and spiritual cooperation among the peoples of different countries.
It should be noted the cultural and historical ties of the Slavic peoples and their overall contribution to the solution of global problems of modern time. On the territory of the Slavic countries are located up to 10% of all world tangible cultural heritage objects, protected by UNESCO and representing a unique value for humanity.
With all our diversity we are combined with a common human culture. Through communication, knowledge of other languages, through dialogue and scientific cooperation, we go out of once established frames, expanding our knowledge, learning different traditions and customs, entering a space of spiritual understanding, discovering communications that are combining us.
I wish you success in the promotion of Slavic cultures for the benefit of human development and the for the creation of a new humanistic society.
Sincerely,
E.Mitrofanova
