On April 14, 2020, the Russian Center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture in Bratislava held an open lesson in Russian for children on the theme “Words and Objects”.
The lesson was held as a webinar. Some of the children had the opportunity to work at the computer with the help of their parents, while others listened and answered by phone.
The duration of the lesson was less than usual, but the main task which students faced with was to complete an unusual homework. The task was to come up with a word denoting an object, and lay out the word itself from these objects. Then it was necessary to send a photo to the teacher, who appreciated the literacy and wit of the students.
The purpose of the lesson was to teach children to distinguish words denoting objects, signs and actions with these objects. To teach them to put questions to words: who? what? which one? what kind? what are they doing? Children enthusiastically tuned in to search for items, while replenishing their vocabulary.
Such words as "screws" and "an egg" appeared with the help of parents. In the context of ongoing quarantine, the lesson also brought together children and parents.
Photos exceeded all expectations. Children received high marks.
