On June 12, 2020, an open lesson in the Russian language and culture was held at the Private Slavic Gymnasium in Bratislava. It was dedicated to the Independence Day of Russia, which is celebrated on this day.
An open lesson in an online format was conducted by Natalya Chumak, course manager at the Russian Center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture
High school students learned about the traditions of celebrating this date and made a virtual journey through the fabulously beautiful Russian region of Siberia, which occupies almost a third of the entire territory of Russia.
Making an excursion into the history of this region, the students learned about the development of vast Siberian spaces by Russian people, about the persistent and friendly nature of Siberians, about the preservation of the culture of the indigenous inhabitants of Siberia. Such Siberian cities of Tyumen, Tobolsk, Novosibirsk, Chita, Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk became a little closer for Slovak students.
Lake Baikal with its beauty and grandeur did not leave anyone indifferent; many expressed a desire to see this miracle with their own eyes. By watching the cartoon about Siberia from the series “We Live in Russia”, the gymnasium students supplemented their knowledge of Russia.
At the end of the lesson, an online quiz on the theme “Traveling in Siberia” was held. At the end of the quarantine, the winners will receive prizes with the symbols of the Russian World Foundation.
According to the feedback of Ekaterina Borisova, the Russian language teacher from the gymnasium, the lesson aroused interest among students and was very informative, and the quiz gave to the lesson a competitive and emotional character.
