22.06.2016 in the hall of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Bratislava was held the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War.
The event began with a story about the one of the saddest and terrible days in the country's history - the start of the Great Patriotic War. The importance of preserving the historical memory in our time was especially emphasized. In a sign of memory for those who were killed in the Great Patriotic War and in the Second World War the Candle of Memory was lighted. All participants honored a memory of all those who gave their lives for a peace with the minute of silence.
The representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense on military-memorial work N. Ryzhov has presented letters of appreciation and memorable gifts to Slovak citizens, who have made the greatest contribution to the preservation and perpetuation of the memory of Soviet soldiers who died in the battles of the Second World War on the territory of Slovakia. Among the recipients were Slovak bikers from the group "Night Wolves", who annually organize events dedicated to the memory of Soviet soldiers who liberated Europe from fascism.
During the event, the presentation of
the book "Russia. XX Century. A brief chronicle of wars, revolutions and
conflicts" was held. Authors, President of the European Foundation of
Slavic Literature and Culture Professor I.I. Bondarenko and first
vice-President of the Fund D.V. Klimov, made a brief presentation about the
content and history of the writing of the book. Exciting content, unique illustrations,
an exploratory character of publications - all this has caused a genuine
interest among the audience. New facts about the Great Patriotic War have
caused a lot of questions from the audience.
Authors, who also told the audience about their monograph, gave to all awarded participants books with their autographs. Authors also gave to the library of RCSC the set of their books which were published for the last year.
On the walls of the assembly hall was organized an exhibition of photographs of the war years, which showed terrible images of the beginning of the war.
The event has ended with a demonstration of the documentary film "We remember ..." - a story about how the memory of the Soviet soldiers who liberated the country in 1945 is preserving in today's Slovakia.
After the event, no one wanted to leave. All participants were combined with a memory and sorrow for the tragic days of our history and for the soldiers, who laid down their lives for our peaceful future. Participants made the photo for the memory with a copy of the Victory Banner, which was delivered by the representatives of the Slovak club "Night Wolves" through several borders, despite the difficulties and obstacles.
The event was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy in the Slovak Republic, the Russian compatriots, members of the Russian Center in Bratislava of the Fund "Russian World" and the Slovak public. The event was covered in the Slovak media.
